Went to Twin Cover last night and tried to get some Crappie or LMB, only got couple of little crappie. Then I got this buffalo about 8-9 pound, but guess how I caught it? Not through the mouth, I hooked him on his back, put quite a fight to pull him to the bank

Question, would that be considered 'foul-hooked'? and if purposely done, would be considered illegal? Dont mean to start anything, i was just wondering since I plan to start fishing non game fish for the first time.

I wish I knew the first thing about catching one of those. Nice Fish

If it is not a game fish it would not matter how you caught it.

That is a good question. I know that you can keep non-game fish in nets, on trotlines, and bowfishing, so I don't see why foul hooking would be illegal. The only thing that gets on my nerves is all of the undersize fish kept and gamefish caught in cast nets. I wish I had a local GW's number so there would be a fast response time. I see this stuff happen way to often. I saw 2 guys and a girl at the river this weekend. The guys had a cast net and the girl had a fishing pole. I saw a carp and a huge white bass(probably would have been a lake record) in a bucket. She said she had caught the white on the fishing pole but I seriously doubt it. She was using one of those eel looking lures. Last year I saw some "people" with so many undersized fish, they had a bucket full of perch and small bass, and a stringer nearly full of more small bass. I have there license plate written down but do not have proof of it. Does anyone know how to go about getting a game warden's number?

fertilizer? I don't know about that because I have never eaten buffalo meat before.
But let me tell you this, in general, fish meat is way better than any red meat. It is very good for your brain, it is a very good (if not number one) food for pregnant women, and the number one food (asian tradition) for breastfeeding mom.
Now, back to the taste, it is all depend on how you cook it. A lot of people don't like sandies, but sandies I cooked is at least as good as salmon or any other fish - but I will only eat if I cook it, not even from my wife.

So, stock up the fish and clean out all the red meats. If you need cooking directions, I can help a little, but you need to take me on your boat first and I will show you how to cook.

I guess we need that for all the brain cells we kill with the beer drank while catching them, lol

He was just trying to stir the pot since he knows it bothers us rough fishermen and it is ILLEGAL to use a food fish for anything BUT food or bait.

Nice lil buff btw. Buffs are notorious for getting foul hooked because the suck then spit their food so much that you feel the bite, but they have already spat it back out and then you hook them in the back or top fin from setting the hook.

Bowfishing sucks
