Has anyone used the Navionics Hotmap Explorer DVD yet? I'm wondering how detailed it is. In particular I fish Arrowhead, Bridgeport, Hubbard Creek and was wondering if it's worth it to see those lakes.

its excellent. same as the maps you see on the premium map chip. you buy the software and it comes with one FREE HD download(for the lake of your choice). then if you want more lakes to be in HD you can purchase the download HD format for that lake. you can print off screen shots and take them with you- or make wayppoints and transfer them to your GPS unit.

the detail is good but only allowed to install it on one computer that has been my only drawback of the software but far as detail for some of the lakes you cannot find a map on it is good.

I have it and love it. I can transfer my waypoints from my 520c to my computer and vise versa.. You can also use Google earth with it. It cost $20 for each high def map though.. You do get one free.

I don't have a GPS on my 96 Skeeter but most of the lakes I fish don't have paper maps available. Do you need anything special to view maps in HD or is a standard computer and monitor capable? Is the extra price for HD maps worth it?

I have this and it has a ton of lakes. Good for studying and doing the homework before you go to the lake. It's well worth the 20-30's as an added tool.

Does anyone know how to get the Lowrance Waypoint Icons to show up properly without turning them all into red square Icons. I received the below message from Hotmaps support and hotmaps explorer still isnt recognizing Lowrance symbols.

Click on GPS/Settings/Model, and select "Lowrance" for your "Icons" before importing the data.usr file.

Fugawi / Navionics reponse on Lowrance Icon symbols not importing.

"I started looking into it on Friday, and I have reproduced the issue. I have to discuss it with our Development team, and will get back to you as soon as possible."

Amazing how the development team for this product doesn't know why the most popular GPS Manufacture icon symbols arent importing.

Don't forget that any one with an IPhone needs to get the Hotmaps South ( or wherever you are.)Application. It is only $5 right now. It normally is 50. It is ok now but the 2.0 version is coming out shortly and is supposed to kick but. I got the 1.8 and the detail is awesome and the upgrades are free!

2.0 came out yesterday. I upgraded... You can add 99 way points and more searches, etc.
