Just how many beers did you have to drink to start thinking this may be a smallmouth?

Wow, you remind me of some little kid posting here

A Kentucky bass (Kentucky spotted bass) has a patch of gristle on the top of his tongue. Easy way to be sure when in doubt!!

We always called them Kentucky bass but now they are known as spotted bass to a lot of fishermen.

Very nice spotted bass!

Keep in mind, smallmouth are always brown/bronze.

In my book the prettiest bass of em all is the spotted bass, whether the Kentucky(which is what you got in your hands and in the boat, by the way), or the Guadalupe of Central Texas! Love catchin' em!

Lewisville and the Elm Fork have dandy spots in em! A buddy of mine caught a spot a few years back in a bar pit off the EF, near Irving, that went just a smidgen from hitting 5 lbs! Gorgeous fish!!
