I'll be headed to my Fiance's Parent's house in Pittsburg this weekend. On Sunday I'll head back to College Station with plenty of sunlight left for fishing that evening.

Can anyone suggest a good place for me to pull off the road and try to catch a few crappie out of the creeks?

You will be right at Bob Sandlin, Lake Cypress Springs and Monticello. If you want to go out there. Bob Sandlin has a state park with a fishing pier!

Haven't been to these places in a while, but here are a few I used to hit up growing up in Pittsburg.

Creeks
Hwy 271 Cypress Creek between Pittsburg and Mt Pleasant
Hwy 271 Lilly Creek between Pittsburg and Gilmer

Bob Sandlin Lake
Hwy 21 State Park pier - if you don't catch any within an hour, probably not going to
Hwy 1519 bridge - creek channel runs next to the bank on the north side

Cypress Springs Lake
Hwy 115 Crappie Barge by the bridge

Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks a lot for this info. I'm definitely going to have to make a quick stop on the way back to College Station. Thanks for the info!

There is not a fishing barge on Cypress anymore. I wish it was there because sometimes it used to be really good fishing.

That's too bad they closed that barge. It had nice depth and was usually brushed out pretty good. It has been a long while since I fished it.
