Ensign Jason and others said they were going to PK recently but have not reported back. Was it that tough?

I had the week wrong(glad my wife keeps up with most of the stuff) I will be heading out there Friday afternoon and returning Saturday night--will post when I return.

I went weekend before last.

We tore the smaller striper up on the lake Fri and Sat night. My dad and I caught at least 20 a piece on Fri night - none smaller than 16 inches, most were over 18, and several a little over 4 lbs. I also caught a 5 lb 14 oz largemouth and 2 others that went 3.5 lbs.

Sat night we probably caught 25 stripers also but no largemouths. We did to much driving looking for new spots and it was COLD!

All fish were released exept for a 2 lb 1 oz White bass that I caught on my flyrod and turned in for lake record.

Nice report. what kind of flies were you using?

White and chartruse clousers. Probably only 25% of fish were caught on flyrod the rest came on roadrunners and a couple on rattletraps.

wow the fish were that active i thought that you would be dead sticking

We didn't see any reason to change what was working?

The best under the lights lure I found is a Glow Grub by Mister twister. Just charge it up every now & then with the boat light.

Good fishing report considering this news. I hope it does not get worse.

Brazos River Basin
January 26, 2009 � Brazos River Basin

Lake Granbury - Samples collected from three sites along Lake Granbury were all found to contain toxic water. Minor fish kills have been reported and the lake will continue to be monitored.

January 21-22, 2009 - Brazos River Basin

Possum Kingdom Reservoir � Possum Kingdom was sampled Wednesday, January 21 at 14 separate sites. Scenic Point and South D&D contained no golden alga cells. The dam, Hell�s Gate, South Broadway, the state park, Sandy Beach, North D&D, Sam�s, Ranger Slough, Peanut Patch, Willow Beach, the airport and Rock Creek Camp all contained low concentrations of golden alga cells. Yellow-green water was seen from Sandy Beach to Rock Creek and a group of birds were observed in the area of the airport. Rock Creek Camp was experiencing a fish kill comprised of small threadfin shad. Biologists report that the kill is progressing down the reservoir. It remains concentrated north of Costello Island in the north arm, but discolored water and �patchy� blooms are evident as far south as the state park and Sandy Beach near Broadway. Small shad continue to die, but birds are eating them very quickly.

Lake Granbury � Lake Granbury was visited on Thursday, January 22; yellow-green water was found at sites throughout the lake. There was a previous report of a small shad kill near Mallard Point, but no dead/dying fish or concentrations of birds were found during the sampling. Low concentrations of cells were found at Highway 51 (Hunter Park), Ranger Slough, the public ramp near Highway 377, the Shores at Panama Street, Rough Creek Camp and the dam at Ranger Boathouse.

Lower Brazos River � On Thursday, January 22 biologists responded to a reported fish kill along the lower Brazos in the Houston area. Stressed and dying fish ranging from small minnows to larger buffalo were seen below I-10 near Sugarland. Golden alga has been confirmed as the cause of this kill.

January 20, 2009 � Brazos River Basin

Biologists are following up on a reported shad kill occurring at Possum Kingdom Reservoir near the airport. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

We all just need to take a minute and say a prayer for PK...if this stuff comes back it will truely kill some of these small business owners! I heard about some shad killing off but I figured it was due to the colder water temps...honestly just hoping this was the case.

I heading up on Friday too. Im hoping to catch some sandies for the frying pan.

Damn - that is not good to hear!!!
Hopefully the blooms will stay in low concentrations and only some shad will be affected - we all no how hard it is to keep them alive anyway!

Yep - Randy those glow in the dark grubs work great! I am going again this weekend also!
