Had an interesting thing happen yesterday, was picking up my yard tractor from the dealer, the young guy loading it (About 20) yrs old saw an old hat laying in the truck bed, he asked "Were you in Korea, I just read a little about it" my answer was "Yep". After loading the machine he came back and held his hand out and said " Thanks for your time there, I really appreciate it, I understand it was Hell") Really astounded me, NEVER has that happened before.

Great post Johnnyt. If you ever get a chance to participate in a "Take a Soldier Fishing" event don't pass it up. I had an oustanding time with my guys during the Lewisville event this past summer. A day fishing doesn't come close to repaying them for what have done for our country, but it was well appreciated by all. Here are a few pictures from the Lewisville event.

hey bobby it that old cast net wieghts you have on your poles ?

I do re-use the weights if I'm lucky enough to get the net back. I can go through quite a few cast nets in a year. Just doing my part to be "Green" and not leave the lead in the lake and not throw it in the trash either. You have to use a bigger swivel or a bead, but they work just fine.

i use them to. as much as they cost now days need to get all you can out of them. seems like the ones they make these days it dont take much to reap them

I highly recommend anyone volunteer for these events. I was at the one at LL and wished I would have done more of them. Puts things in prospective. I get mad and feel like my day is a waste if I dont catch a bunch of fish--these young men are going through all kinds of adversity and are thrilled to just get out for a day and catch a fish. It is a trip you wont soon forget.

Thanks for supporting us. I served in Iraq twice and my little brother is there right now. We really appreciate.

And thanks for those who fought before us. Without you we wouldn't have been to do the same!
