Thinking of purchasing a green light for night fishing and bait attraction (the 12 volt portable). Are they better than the white spot lights, are they worth the money, and what brand is best?

I got a real high dollar 42in green light for tuna fishing crack the case like the second time i had it out, it is still water tight but that was offshore to in heavy seas. But you can get more light for the battery power on the green lights I have gone to sleep ran it all nigtht and bat was fine and i have used it striper fishing and it brings in alot of bait.

I like the green over white any time !Dont need the expensive ones either.I use 2- 18" lights from either academy or BPS.Shouldnt be more than 20-25 each.We use one on the front and one on the back of the boat. And more ofter than not, we catch, away from the lights.

Old Coach,
I have used the Night Blasters from Academy with a TON of success for sand bass. I drop three of them down all on the same side of the boat (front, back, middle) then fish that side with minnows. I think these are the same ones that Rad is talking about. They aren't very expensive.

I tried green lights last weekend for the first time. My personal opinion is that if you don't have any, GET SOME! they are awesome. attracted thousand of shad and minnows instantly, crappie and sandies came soon after. i may throw away my white lights now!

They do work great. I have noticed that 3 or 4 work better than 1 or 2. We sink them about 10' and have tons of shad and minnows very quickly.

Ive never had a green light and have always relied on candle power, BUT, the crappie guys have me convinced that if your seeking crappie it might be the ticket. My underwater light is 250,000 candlepower that I sink down about 3 feet. It will bring the whites in so if your trying to avoid them you might go green.
I had my Dads for 20 years and finally gave it back, grrrr. I bought one off ebay for $14 bucks that is just as good except his old 1980's model had about a pound of lead on it which I really liked.
If you go green and want a cheap alternative the white one would be an easy add-on.
