AC Roy, I don't understand your anger directed at Shimano, they have no control over Academy employees. Derek--if you think that a manufacturer doesn't have any say in how a retailer sells it product--find out why Academy doesn't sell G-Loomis products anymore.

Derek, Manufactures don't have a whole to say as to how retailers sell their products, they can suggest a MSRP and sometimes even that can be tricky. BTW, I know plenty of Academy stores that still sell G.Loomis rods.

I was in Academy Yesterday and they had G loomis rods. The new Curado's are great reels I have both the E5 and the E7 and they are great reels, one of the best Curado's for sure. I am a Shimano guy all the way, I would have to say for smoothness, its up there with the core. Here is some Shimano porn for ya

If enough people complain to Academy Corp. about the way that the clearance sale was handled, they will most likely change their policies. Home Depot employees must allow all marked down items to be available to the public for 48 hours before they can be bought by an employee. That means that they must be down and accessable not hidden some place. That seems fair to me, seeing that the shopping public pays the salary of those that work at the store.
I will be getting one of the new Curados here in the next few weeks, but one question for the Rep. --What is going on with them? I was at Academy in Mesquite yesterday and they said that they were out and have been, and the same story at Bass Pro yesterday morning, they only got 1 or 2 in and sold them right away.

BPS has the 6.2:1 listed but indicates it may need to be back ordered. Maybe they have plans for it in the future? Only problem is the price on it is 249.00. Not worth a couple more inches of retrieve per revolution.
