I wasn't too keen about the graphite side plate after Keith and I discussed it--I hope it was more of a weight thing and not SHimano trying to cut down on prodction cost. I should have a report on the performance of the reel in the next couple of days.

Come on Jason, take it in the backyard and give us your thoughts. I like the looks and hopefully it cast as good as it looks.

Ok here is is--If you liked the old bantum curado reels you will like the new curado. Reel casted like a champ and handled several med sized reds with ease. Drag very smooth as was retreive . I was only using large lures so I dont know well it would cast small stuff. Ok here is the bad part. Even though last years reel weighed more it felt rock solid--I dont get that with the new one--not really how to put a finger on it but there is just a different feel when you push the button on a reel with all metal parts than there is reel with plastic parts. I havent taken the reel aparts but I plan to soon to see if there is as much plastic in there as I think there is. SO I am not sure how well this reel will hold up but I definately plan on keeping my receipt! I really hope that Shimano didn't drop the ball on this one to save a couple of bucks on their main seller but I dont know yet.
