Waiting on the next one too. However, they seem to have them early in the spring and late summer. Never when you really need one.

I asked the same question at a Academy in Ft. Worth last week and the guy told me that they don't find out at the store until the Friday night before the ad comes out on Sunday.

I doubt that. Reason being someone has to place the order for extra inventory. I have an extensive background in purchasing and I can assure you, especially with deisel prices right now, they do not find out the Friday before about the sale then place the orders with all the rod vendors they deal with, and Violah!! they appear at the store the next day. Something like that likely takes a little more planning than that. The reason he told you that was because obviously if you knew one was coming up, it would affect their sales

If you will go to the next rod riot you will see that they do not "stockup" on their rods. They sell what they have and sometimes you may have to go to more than one store to get what you want. What I said was what was told to me by the 2 guys behind the counter in the fishing & hunting section in the Academy off Bryan Irvine in Ft Worth 3 weeks ago.

yea i dont think they stock up on thier rods when they do a rod riot. but im sure they tell the store more than 2 days in advance though.

And what I said was I doubt they don't know when the next rod riot will be. And yes, they do stock up because their shelves can not sit empty after the sale is over. The two ol boys behind the counter at the Bryant Irvin store told you that because they wanted you to buy a rod then, not wait until the sale. How many times do you ever have a clerk at a store advise you not to buy something because it will be going on sale soon?

How many times do you ever have a clerk at a store advise you not to buy something because it will be going on sale soon? believe it or not, but its happened quite often at Cabelas and BPS. Of course, Ive gotten to know some of the people that work there and they've told me "hey, come back next week when this is on sale". Its happened at one of this sites boat dealer advertisers and car dealerships aswell.

Last year they did not have the first one until almost labor day. I remember this because one of my employees was waiting for it and we talked about it almost every week. Then, they had another only 3-4 weeks later.

I have a friend that does marketing for Academy. I asked him about a rod riot a few weeks ago and he said there might be one for Memorial Day but he wasn't sure.
So, check Sunday's ad. Maybe it will happen.

Ordering is done by some guy behind a desk miles and miles away. The store just knows "OH we got a huge stock of xyz rods...
