Best bang for your buck--for what you want the rod to do---you will need to add another choice
POWELL 683
By far, the best choice of them all.

Never seen a Hendrix rod before but they are made with an IM6 blank the same one used on the rods that are on clearance at Academy all the time for $20. I know that they do custom wrapping and things like that but I buy a rod to catch fish not to look pretty.

I would like to invite you to come take a look at one of our rods, so you can make an informed statement. You can not buy a rod like ours off the shelf for $20.00 Anywhere. I respect your opinion, so give us a chance. 817-229-9341 I will be glad to meet you give me a call. We can improve your fishing experience. Michael

I might do that I think he fishes Benbrook too. I just cant see it being the same quality as a Loomis with a IM6 blank.--for the record the $20 was the clearance price--I think the normal is $49

I owen a St. Croix EC68MXF, ES68MXF, and a AC68MXF. All are excellent for weightless worms, Super Flukes, etc..
I also own two Falcon LowRider Clark Wendlandt Weightless Worm Specials: LFC-5-167, and consider them to be very good rods.
Though I do much prefer my EC68MXF, and AC68MXF to the LowRiders
I would think that the: CC-5-167MH-T7 Cara Weightless Worm MH XF 9 12-20 lb. 1/4 to 3/4 oz. 6' 7" would also be a good rod for weightless worm fishing, but again I'm sure that I'd still prefer my EC68MXF.
St. Croix also now offers the 68MXF in the Legend Tournament series of rods, so you might want to give one of those a look-see.
Personally I'd go with a St. Croix over the Falcon, FWIW.
I own over 20 St. Croix rods, and really like them. If I had to switch to another brand of rod I'd, in all probability, go with Falcon.
I'm not a G Loomis fan, though I've got a 7'5" Senko GLX that is just a super rod, but I'm considering getting a St. Croix AVC80MF to replace it. Really the only reason that I've got it was that it was a gift. My main beef with G Loomis is that wrap the reel seat and guides on the curve of the rod, and not one the spline. I just hate that, but that's me.

Wow, I miss this site. Thanks for the input gents. I thought I heard Hendrix uses Gloomis blanks.
Thanks for all the input. None of you blokes even mentioned the BPS rods, ya'll are missing out on some good all purpose rods with durabalitly, fairly light (Pro Finesse anyway) and excellent feel on the Johnny's.
After further review of the rod situation, I'm going to get Mike to fix several rods I've set aside and purchase a new reel. Unless any rod builders want to pay me to test rods, I fish about 4 times a week, so feel free to send me your rods and make the checks payable to Kevin Crabby.
Merry to the Christmas ya'll and may you all get $1000 gift certificates to BPS.

Another vote here for the Powell 683C, you might also try the new Dobyns Champion 683C, hear it may be better than the Powells.

Shakespeare makes rods for BPS and Cabelas. I use the Shakespeare Ugly Stick Custom Inshore for reds up to 30" long with 20lb braid.(USCS1170-M) Its the best that they offer, and at only 70.00 dollars its a steal!................

I just cant see it being the same quality as a Loomis with a IM6 blank.--for the record the $20 was the clearance price--I think the normal is $49 You can't get an IM6 at Academy that is in anyway compariable to the Loomis GL3 or Hendrix Rods IM6 for $20.00, different Modulus. You can get an IM6 compariable to the GL3, and you also can get an IM8 which is the quality of IMX, from Hendrix Rods. There is no comparison to off the shelf at Academy. I have fished too many rods over the years. Even IMX's for 4-5 years. This may be Opinion, but I'll stick to it when fishig Tournaments. Too many times fishing the same everything in Tournaments with my partner and felt fish and caught our limit, and he never so much as felt a bite. I'll take that sensitivity over others when I have money on the line.

I've got a GL3 and it feels nothing like a IM6--any of them I've ever picked up anyway--but it isn't as nice as the GLX I just got. If you want to increase your sensitivity use braid--that will help you feel soft bites more than a slight change in rod design

I beleive in quality over quanity all day everyday after using the GLoomis. Honestly BPS (only know from experience) higher end rods are great rods. I've noticed no one considers that or really uses them. However, GLoomis is quality as I'm sure Hendrix, StCroix, ARS, and most all the other higher end rods are which to me equates to more sensitivity, more confidence, more fish.
So you blokes who haven't tried a higher end rod because their happy with what the catch fish with you've got to try one. Live a little & get a good quality rod, and watch your catch rate in crease & your bank account decrease LOL.
