What ever you do... don't use it if you already have regular oil in your real... the chemicals react and cause it to freeze up like rock candy

Do you also use it on the spool bearings? As part of a total tear-down and cleanup of my old style green Curado I put hot sauce on ALL the bearings. Seemed to be too much of a good thing. A reel that I had to purposely screw up a cast to get it backlash, now blows up way too easy. Flushing the bearings and re-lubing with Shimano's oil helped somewhat. I may just replace all the spool bearings since they're 7-8 years old anyway to see if that cures the problem completely. <fingers crossed>

I have switched to it. It is ok but I don't see anything special about it. I switched because of a friend's recommendation.

I tried the Hot Sauce and while it lubed OK, I didn't like the red dye in it. I seem to drop/spill it every place I didn't want it. I went to the Ardent Reel Butter oil & grease and like them just as well as far as lube and don't have the red dye on things. If looking for some bearings, I got some ABEC's from Jim at Heartland Tackle that really helped a older Citica I had. His prices were as good as any I found. Here is his web site: http://heartlandtackleservice.com/default.asp

I don't care for Hot Sauce at all. Ardent Reel butter or TJ's Rocket fuel are much better.

If you go over the Tackle Tour forum and search the Shimano product support area you'll find Shimano will not warranty reels that have been lubed with it. IIRC there is a small amount of lapping compound in it so the bearing surfaces in your reel are being continuely lapped as you cast and retrieve which will accelerate wear. I don't think I would use it..

Don't take what I just posted as gospel just yet, I went over to Tackle Tour and looked for the thread and can't find it. I'll post the question over there and see what response I get from Bantam1 who works for Shimano..

Bantam1 who works for Shimano.. He has said several times that the use of Hot Sauce will void the warranty on any Shimano reel. Tackle Tour Hot Sauce Thread

Love the Hot Sauce - Oil on the bearings - Grease on the gears.
