Hey guys,

What time of the year is the best time to fish Calaveras for reds? Would I be doing trolling or fishing off the Crappie Wall? I'd like to fish off the crappie wall mainly. What do you catch them on trolling and off the wall?

thanks

right now is the best time!!!!! gold spoons and rattle traps if u ask me, or live bait along the dam!!!!!! Im sure you'll have to fight some boat traffic out on the wall unless u get there early, just pick u a spot and milk it!!!!

I love to fish the crappie wall, start around in July. When I live in SA I worked in Corpus 4 days a week and was off on Fridays. I hit the wall at sun up and would have 3 nice reds by 10:00AM. The best way I found to cook the Red was to black them. I set my cast iron skillet on the outdoor fryer and let it get good and hot and put the filet in for 3 min each side. Coat the filet with butter and blacking spice and look out.

The storm baits worked best for me.
