Dead on. The petroleum reserve is empty. We have severe munition shortages and our military has been decimated. We're at the weakest point in my lifetime.

Let's add that it's pretty clear Americans have a short attention span as far as war goes, 20 years in the gulf, I think as a country we just want some peace and quiet. The whole idea that Russia is going after Poland or whoever is just a really good trick to keep the ball bouncing and the money flowing. Create some boogie man across the world as a rally cry to get the masses riled up. Governments have been playing that trick on the governed for 1000s of years.

Russia's defense budget is normally $80b. Its been spending that per year for the war.
Their population is smaller, their market is smaller but they came in better financially.

We have given $75b to the effort before approving this last go round? If so its hard to make the case that we are in trouble. Russia is not now capable of starting any type of large campaign and Poland is a pipe dream. If they tried they would leave mother Russia exposed.

I have not thought about it since the possibility is so narrow but if Russia tried they would have to cross Belarus and/or Lithuania. Of course UKR is in between them but they'd have to win there first.

A small enclosed but for the ocean part of Russia is Kaliningrad Oblast. Its the only access they have to the Baltic Sea that does not freeze up in the winter.
If Russia attacked I would think the first thing Poland would do is seize Kaliningrad.

Sadly, we are so far in debt, $33 trillion or whatever it is, that $100 billion is no big deal. If we are $33 trillion in debt, adding $100 billion makes it $33.1 trillion in debt. That's an illustration of how ridiculously far we are in debt.
