Apparently, speaker Mike Johnson was persuaded to sign the recent 95-billion-dollar aid package because of US intelligence briefings that indicated Putin would win in Ukraine by Christmas and would likely march on Poland soon after. Poland obviously being a NATO country. I fail to see how that wouldn't be the start of WWIII. To me it seems like it would be a suicide mission for Putin, particularly given his complete lack of success in Ukraine up to this point. This seems like another WMD in Iraq type ploy.

I agree with this scenario. Putin is not an idiot although he badly miscalculated in Ukraine. He is not going to attack NATO countries and start WW3.

Russia's military has been shown to be far weaker than thought. They are having trouble with Ukraine. Going against 1st line military personnel and equipment of a NATO aligned country would be a disaster for Putin. He would run the risk of some of his generals saying enough is enough and removing him.

I'd like to know when this evidence was given to Johnson. He was for Ukraine aid for the last two years, voting for it every time it came up.
The only reason they didn't pass it last year was it was used as a leverage to try to get H.R.2 passed.
He said so in public addresses and reiterated it when he met with Zelenskyy in December. We are all behind Ukraine he said, but we have to deal with our border first. Evidently not.
