I have been seeing some pictures of nice smallmouth coming from Canyon. I fish Canyon quite a bit, but have not caught a smallmouth in years. I pretty much only fish grass, and the half of the lake closest to the river. Is it a location thing, or do I just have a smallmouth disability? lol

We have caught them up the river and close to the dam. The one thing in common was rocks.

Yep-North Park bluffs by the dam is where I’d start. Stuck some pigs on a jigworm there years ago.

This ^^^^
Went down a stretch of shoreline last week with a jerkbait and had a 5+ largemouth out of the grass and about 100 yds down a 4+ smallmouth off rock.
Canyon is fishing as good as it has in a long time. Heard it's taking 20+ to win the Thursday night tournaments right now.

How are they getting on the lake when I hear it costs $30+ dollars to launch?

Never fished Canyon but I would run those rocks with a Ned rig and I bet you grab a smallie or three
