I fish the wacky rig but was thinking that maybe using the Tokyo rig might be something that could help when fishing now in the post spawn timeframe.
I have never fished it and I would rather hear from those that have fished it and decided they liked it because it was somewhat successful or dropped it because it just was t catching fish. Of course you can watch some fishing it on You Tube but you just get those that think it’s the best thing in the world.

Fish a free rig instead.

Better than Tokyo, much quicker to assemble, cheaper also. You probably already have everything to make them Better in every way.

Don't:
-try to skip it
-skimp on weight you add to it, no reason to ever have less than 1/2oz
-fish on light tackle

Do:
- I like it when the bottom has chara/sand grass or maybe a little softer (bait will stick out above it) - when drop shot isn't enough
- it's an underrated rig for fishing swimbaits on/close to the bottom. very snag proof around wood and rock
- try the jika rig, less hardware, easier to rig, and hangs up on grass a little less.

My $.02

Thanks.
I have bought a few of the pre-made VMC Tokyo rigs, I just need to add whatever weight that I want. You mentioned not to fish it with less than 1/2 oz. That is pretty heavy for me. Why so heavy?
What would be your #1 bait to put on?

in my opinion, the primary advantage of the tokyo rig is that it keeps your bait stationary and off the bottom. You're not usually fishing it like a typical jig or TX rig. So the heavier weight allows you to get it down to the bottom and keep it there.

My favorite bait on it is either a ragetail craw, or some sort of tube/crawtube bait if pitching thicker cover
