I saw somewhere in the news lately, a place, I believe in NY where you could go legally do your drugs, and they would be there for you if you ODd with narcan or whatever it is. THIS is what NOT to do.

Doesn't look like a bad gig the ones I see or high or drunk and seem to be happy . Without the stress of everyday life. Sometimes I see family at an intersection that I don't believe are homeless but rather hungry or borderline homeless I'll toss them a twenty. Now a young with a good back that use a shovel no sympathy.

IMO. There are handouts at all sorts of food banks, shelters, churches. They can go there for food. Cash money is used for booze and drugs. I’ll buy a guy a burger but not booze.

This is the reason we quit rving. The RV parks were being over run with full timers (kids and pets included) that thought they owned the place and that you were invading their space.

We have always had homeless people. Seems to me, we have made it too easy to be homeless these days. They can sleep anywhere they want, do drugs and drink anywhere they want, and we give them free food, clothes, and medical assistance. Cut the free stuff and see where it all falls out.

Who's to blame/fault for this. Our society, religion, government, etc.

How do we curb it and solve the problem?

I know the TFF has the solution.

I firmly believe Mark Laita…nearly all of this problem can be tracked back to poor parenting as the source. As a result, it’s pretty much an unsolvable.

I don't see it as a problem. Seems we are able to house millions of illegals, why can't the homeless find a roof if they want one? Many of these folks have decided not to live in our "systems" these are their choices and they do what they do. I do not think civilization is for everyone.

I helped a man & his son the other day
Rent takes most of his $
His car broke down
He lost his job because he couldn’t get to work

He was intelligent
Had a job
Took care of his kid

The problem is real

There are problems with entry level or lower level jobs. At the end of the day, everyone needs people working those jobs too, it’s scary if they can’t afford the basics. I do have sympathy for that, but those situations are very rare, like a unicorn, it’s always coupled with something stupid.

Addiction is scary, some people are BORN addicted to drugs, because their mom was using while pregnant, it is really sad and messed up.

It’s easy to point out what you should do, it much harder to come up with solutions to make it extinct.

If you won't do the few basic things that will keep you from being homeless, how is anyone else responsible?

Is there public transportation in the area? Buses?

I have bought food and gas for numerous people. Actually, I should say I have offered to buy food for numerous people who told me they are hungry. Some of them refuse food and ask me for money instead. At that point I tell them our interaction is done. People who are hungry don't turn down meals.

That’s right, they’re thirsty, but don’t want water
