Excuse my silly question, this is all pretty new to me.
Whenever i get to a spot and fishing on front deck i traditionally trim my main all the way up. Noticing while watching elites most guys have it trimmed down still.
Outside of being super shallow and not wanting to get stuck should i be leaviing it down? What are the pros vs cons.
I do struggle in the wind a lot and get turned around. Keeping trim down maybe keeps boat straight?
thanks

In my opinion more motor in the water and motor turned straight gives you more boat control. I do tilt up slightly though.

Leave it as is, unless your going up shallow then adjust up to keep from hitting. You will prob hit TM on something over the rear motor most of the time. As stated, helps you track better, like a rudder. And drifting down a windy bank will keep your front pointed in the right direction. Just my .02

I trim up about halfway on fork, keeps me from hanging on stumps.
I have never noticed the lower unit keeping me straight in the wind, learn to set up so the wind works for you best it can.
you can't steer a boat without some sort of power pushing it.

Acts as a rudder to keep the boat straight while being pulled by the TM. Motor straight and down.
See you on the lake and have a great day!

I fish lakes and bays so I trim my OB up. I will leave the skeg in the water for boat control.

Leave it where it was when you came down off plane. I always trim down as the boat is slowing so the boat does not porpoise. If water depth is not a concern I just leave it because that is close to where I need it when I start the motor up.
and for the same reason people have said here. It helps keep the boat straighter than it would if it was raised.

Yea my home body of water has no stumps to worry about and im normally sitting in 5-12 feet of water so it seems leaving it down is way to go.
"I always trim down as the boat is slowing so the boat does not porpoise"
also a great tip / interesting comment. Once i get i plane i trim up a bit to achieve that smooth ride add a extra few MPH but never thought of trimming down AS I decelerate.
