He told me he is fed up with this entire format. It is sad that these tournaments are arranged the way they are. He is very serious of just fun fishing the rest of the year in those tournaments and start fishing the Opens. I told him he just sounded frustrated by the weather at Dale Hollow...he laughed and said the weather is at least predictable, the BFL is another question.

Just from talking to him over these past few weeks, it sounds like to me that you will see a mass exit next year anyways.

...and no, I will not name him. He has asked that I do not do that, (I'll honor his wish too) because as of right now the BFL is his job and he does have to feed the family.

But it's nothing earth shattering anyways if you do know some of the guys fishing this series. I think most are thinking along the same lines.

I just wanted to throw this out to you all, I ask him if that was okay, he said yea, please do not name me, I told him you got it buddy.

BFL’s are regional weekend angler tours correct? He should probably switch trails if he is trying to support a family.

1 tournament a month with the winners getting just a few thousand dollars is a tough way to support a family. Wish him the best chasing the dream though.

Opens are a long ways from BFLs

If he is feeding the family on this as a "job," there's no way he's doing well enough to pay for the boat, gas, and entry fees.

Sounds like your friend is lacking in perspective- he gets to fish for a living, if he is legit making a living doing this then he should consider himself lucky, he could be working a 9-5 down at the plant to make ends meet instead. But in the bright side his truck has wheels he can take his boat into the opens if he prefers that route better.

The BFL's have only been around since Kurt Cobain blew his head off, easy mistake to make I'm sure rolleyes

Oh he understands that. He has made a good living fishing; he has even won on tour. The thing we do not see even though we "think" we do since it seems we have a lot of professional it seems here on this forum and much better than any of them out there by their egos...but I regress in that.

Tell you what guys, you can have you laugh I made a difference in names. I rarely follow the MLF. BPT, TRG, LBYBE series all that much. I just got a buddy that fishes in it. I do not shadow him around; in fact, he called me. I knew he was in a tournament, and I did not want to just chit chat with him because he was working. Fact is most times we do not even talk fishing, more about the kids and life in general.

But non the less, he has made close to a million fishing, and he has done very well in this industry, I suspect he might know just a taaaaaaaaad bit more ...no,silly me. I forget that this is the TFF you all know everything.

What I wanted to do was add some insight as to what some pro anglers are thinking right now, but you all are more worried I used the wrong lettering. That's cool I think that is more interesting than what the anglers think...don't you?

It has to be frustrating to catch 10 - 12 pounds and the leader has 92. Time for your buddy to make a change

He caught way more than 10-12 pounds. But I agree 92 pounds is pretty stout there.
I'm sure he didn't mind when he cashed his $100,000 check for winning, He is in the right business, just feed up with the way things are run.
What's been your largest check for winning? $100.00
