What if, after a year of 5 and 6 days a week QB school....they know something nobody knows?

Unless a decent to good team trades up to the first round, good QBs go to horrible teams. Look at the Browns QB (in name and sheer number) this century. Awful franchises end up with QBs who have potential, we’re great in college and then flame out because they were drafted by perennial awful teams.

You should see the stats of teams that move up to take a Qb in the 1st round the last 15 years. Saw it on NFL live recently.
Something like 80% miss rate.

What about the teams that didn't?

I think it's nearly 100% miss rate for them. Cowboys haven't had a meaningful playoff win in 2 plus decades...it's not like they've been setting the world on fire using the "don't draft a qb early" approach. The team that's won 3 super bowls in the last 5 years moved up in the first round to take their QB, and they did it when they'd won 11 games in 3 of 4 years, because they weren't afraid to fail if that's what it took to win big. Cowboys are afraid to fail.

This is like saying Corey seager shouldn't swing at high fastballs because he's gonna miss 65% of them. Sure...but you gotta take a chance. Taking a chance might mean a strikeout, but you know you can't win anything meaningful without taking the chance.

I still think you draft a QB every 3 years or so just to try to develop, even if its in later rounds.

Pretty much what SF has done, and they've had 3 different QBs take them to the super bowl in the last 12 years. 2 second rounders and one seventh rounder

The cowboys basically drafted a qb last year in the fourth round, they also drafted denucci recently if not mistaken
