Taking a trip to PK next weekend. Will be bass fishing for three days and have never been on the lake. Does anyone have any pointers or places to start. The Lake is massive even with 3 days.

Does it have grass?

TIA

I just fished a 2 day Top 10 Championship and blanked both days.

Had 1 4lb fish hooked up at the surface when the winds straightened a dock out and a submerged dock cable stretched out to about 2' out of the water leaving my fish dangling and broke my line off.

Best I can tell that was the only bass bite I had all weekend.

We fished the exact same weekend last year and I was catching 16-19 lbs/day with no big fish, just solid 3-4.5 lb fish, and plenty of them. That bite was non-existent this year.

Guys that won 1st and 2nd fished out the same boat and had decent stringers caught near the dam. They were the only 2 guys to bring in 5 fish each Saturday. We had 3 blanks and 3 fishermen with 1 fish each. We just couldn't find them.

I fished from the dirt to 20-25' with just about every presentation I could think of.................

It's extremely hit and miss, coming out of the golden algea they just aren't many where they usually are. I have been catching some but covering a lot of water to do so. I know some guys that are pretty good out there and grew up out there and everyone kinda scratching head a little.

Fished out there for 3 days last week. There was a group of us there. They were biting pretty good all 3 days. Thursday they pushed up really good and they were on beds everywhere we went. The marina with Hemingways restaurant was loaded with bed fish. We caught a lot of fish on chatterbaits fishing spawingin pockets on the opposite side from Hells gate. A lot of those pockets had reeds in them and bed fish too. Up north around castillo island there a bunch of reeds and they had just pushed in there thursday. we caught 6 fish in there. All were 3-4lbs but saw a few over 6. Look for the opening in the reeds and get back in there as close to the bank as you can. All the pockets in fox hollow creek had bed fish too. Buddy caught a 7 off a bed in there.

We caught them good on Saturday. Lots of fish right up against the bank. The females seemed like they were off the banks a little deeper. Saw alot of bucks cruising in the backs of most pockets we went in.

There is grass in a few spots deep and shallow. Don't think any of the people that know where it is will give it up though... lol

everyone knows where that grass is and it will vanish soon as the carp get around to it. happens every year.

Here is a pic of the magical grass no one will speak of. This is last year. Carp took it out in about 2 days once they zeroed in on it.

lol the carp didn’t get the grass pockets I know of. It was thick all the way out to 18’ in a couple of areas.
