Anyone eat gar? I heard it is poor man's lobster. I have eaten gar spotted, long nose, and alligator gar. Of the 3 the alligator gar taste best.

my uncle was a full-fledged cowboy; brought my dad 5 gal buckets full; deeeee licious; Daddy would deep fry them like fish;
does any one know of a restaurant that serves them in the Nacogdoches area?

Sea turtle in Grand Cayman, delicious. Snails at Vincent's in Dallas, very good.

does any one know of a restaurant that serves them in the Nacogdoches area? Idk but if you’re ever in Denver, try Buckhorn Exchange. Great atmosphere and all kinds of exotic foods. I enjoyed the RM oysters and rattlesnake nachos

I had an Oyster once. That was plenty for me. Got 1/2 of one down, then tossed it up along with the previous 3 courses. Didn't know you were not supposed to bite a ray one in half, green stuff drips out. Have had Robbin, Raccoon, Possum, Armadillo & Beaver Tail and some things in Southeastern Mexico that I still don't know what it was.

Anyone eat gar? I heard it is poor man's lobster. Nah, Monkfish is the poor man's lobster and it's delicious! Central Market will sometimes have it on sale from the normal $19.99/lb down to $9.99/lb (that's when it's for us poor folks).

I have eaten monkey a few times and baboon once. I recommend neither. Camel is pretty nasty too. Zebra on the other hand is quite good.
