I have taken a teaching position in Los Fresnos TX. I am in Amarillo now so I know very little about fishing down that way. Google maps show some small ponds/lakes in the area but the most substantial fresh water seems to be the Rio Grande River. Anybody got any info or tips on getting into some catfish on the river just east of Brownsville?

All private property out that way for the most part. I used to fish and hunt the land along the river out there, but all the land owners I knew have sadly passed away. YEARS ago as a kid I would fish the Resacas scattered thru town, but I have no idea of their condition now. To be honest, I spent a lot more time salt water angling down there than fresh.
