Sofar I'm getting away with every other year. With our insurance the cost is about the same between my everyday bifocal transition glasses and the polarized bifocal and my perscription hasn't been changing that much from year to year. So one year fishing glasses next year daily glasses. Last 4 pairs I've been running Wiley x frames. Normally runs me about 250 for my part. Same here. I'm retired military and Oakley Standard Issue offers some pretty good discounts when they have sales. They finally began making progressive lenses in the Half Jacket frame that I always wore. Still pretty expensive to set up the frames and the lenses but they fit my skinny head well and I can do everything in the boat I need to do.

I got Maui Jim's, and they are beyond excellent. I needed bifocals and have an astigmatism. Just be careful of the base curse so it does not distort your vision.

Definitely research your prescription. My progressives require a pretty flat lens. Neither Oakley nor Costa have styles that work. Have had good luck with Maui Jim's.

I'm going to order some new prescription sunglasses this week. Recomendations? I did Costas. I actually just sent my older frames I wore all the time into Sport RX with my prescription and what lense color I wanted and they took care of it. Sinkey - Glad I read this post. I have used Amphibia Sunglasses for the last few years and love them. I still have a couple of pair and when I ordered them they had lenses with built in readers which is a must for my old eyes. The frames last forever but I am pretty hard on them and am in need of ordering some replacement lenses. Unfortunately Amphibia doesn't offer them with the built in readers anymore. So I have been on a search for anyone who could produce them and ran into a dead end until I read this and contacted Sport RX. Great customer service and got a quote from them after just a couple of emails. Thanks!

I have a pair of Maui Jim prescription shades, the frames are 4 years old and have the second set of lens in them because my prescription changed. The frames are just as solid now as they were when they were new.

I ended up having lasik done last year, so my couple of pair they did prescription lenses on I just popped my normal lenses back in them.

The frames are just as solid now as they were when they were new. I bought a pair of Maui Jim wayfarer style sunglasses in St. Thomas on my honeymoon in 1997. Had the lenses replaced with prescription lenses in 1999. Wore them until 2011 when I had crystal lens procedure and didn't need the prescription anymore. Those are the best dam sunglasses I have ever had and now after reading this post I think I will look into having the lenses replaced with non prescription lens.

I ordered a pair of Ray-Ban prescription sunglasses earlier today. I have a bunch of correction so Ray-Bans are one of the few frames I could use. I bought from LensCrafters. They have a special going where you get 50% off the lenses if you pay full price for the frames. I got the Progressive lenses with all the bells and whistles. Overall pretty happy with the price.

If you have Oakleys and want prescription lenses you have to go to Lens Crafters per Oakley. I called Lens Crafters and they said bring the prescription and the glasses and they will fix me up.

I finally got some readers in Mauis Jim’s, best money I ever spent. Taking off my sunglasses and switching to readers was a PIA. I hated switching em out so much I had gotten to where I didn’t use sunglasses. I went through that Sport RX store I think.

I've got WileyX's with my prescription in them. Not cheap...about 400.00. Been very happy with them and wear them all the time.
