Good! Just getting into the grind of things.

Whitebass seem to be picking up on main lake humps and points, crappie were still slow today. I believe only 1 person rolled in to Marina with a decent box put together 14/15 crappie today.

Water temp is holding right at 60°

I have been white bass fishing all over the state of Texas the last couple of weeks. The one thing that has been consistent is that as soon as the sun gets up in the sky over the trees the fishing almost completely shuts down.

Same thing has been happening in the evening. I fished Newman Bottom this evening. I got there around 3:30. For the first hour I only caught 1 white bass. But then I started to see a lot of movement of white bass and some clear spawning activity. I made a dozen casts or so with a chartreuse/white clouser but couldn't get a bite. I switched over to the magical clouser and immediately started catching fish. The first 6 or 7 were small males but the fish got bigger as the sun crept toward the horizon.

I ended up catching 24 more between 4:30 and 6 PM and left them biting. I did catch some females but they looked to be at least partially depleted of eggs.

Typically is it better to go right or left from the bridge at NB?

If you go right or downstream the water is deeper but there is little flow. I would go left.

so i caught these two crappie in the Yegua yesterday. i found the contrast in their appearance weird. can someone with more knowledge than me explain the difference in color? i assume one is a black crappie and the other white crappie. i've caught both before but never that black. i thought maybe it has something to do with the spawn?

The 1st one is male black crappie, with tuxedo on for female spawn. The 2nd fish is female white crappie. Nice catch!

Is the white bass fishing at Newman still any good to check out? Want to go fishing, but don’t know if it’s worth the drive.

Not unless your name is J-Moe. Fishing has been slow. Maybe if we get a good rain it will pick up.

Yep. Heard a lot about him from this chat.

Well I might just go anyways. Antsy to just get out of the house.
