First chance to get out in a month or so and thought about making quick trip to Roberts this Saturday. Unfortunately it's the only day I can go and weather goes from high 70's on Thurs/Fri to windy and cold on Saturday. Not many reports on Roberts these last few weeks......is that because FFS topic is replacing actual fishing reports or because the fishing is just that bad? Has anyone been out there in the last week and if so, how was it?

Roberts won't be easy/good for another two weeks. Then it'll be "good" for about six weeks and then will return to sucking again.

Its hit or miss right now. Might not get a bite. Might catch 30 pounds. Took 27 to win the high school tournament. Congrats to Mark (Donegonefishin on here) and his kids on the win. Second was 18 and I think after that it was 10 pounds. Take two teams out and it takes 10 pounds to win a 200 plus boat tournament. Marks a great fishermen and long time local on Ray Roberts and even a better person. Him and I actually won a bass champs together way way back in the day out there. Congrats to them. He was on them and was a good hard earned win and crushed the field.

As to the current fishing it literally changes on a daily basis regardless of what the weather is doing. The fish are def behind what your water temps are making you think they should be doing in regards to 90 percent of the shallow areas in the lake.

Thanks Barrett. That's a good tip. I would 100% have been the guy sitting in Indian wondering where the heck the beds are with the water at 60+. Now I'm thinking I can save gas $$ and go to Lewisville where I will probably zero anyway.

What I know based on helping the HS anglers on Saturday. Find the grass near flats or points off the main lake or secondary points. Throw chatter baits, spinner baits, or swim jigs in shad patterns.

Have fun out there, it's close to busting open. Water temps were around 56-58 most of the day.

This ^^

It's been slow and hit and miss. I've heard guys doing better on the lower end of the lake still. I don't venture down there much. I think the hard freeze moved fish out deep and that deep water is still cooler than the recent warming trends make you believe. Shallows are warming into the 60s but no fish to speak of yet. I marked fish suspending in timber 18'-25' in heading into spawning coves. However, the wind made it too hard to fish for them. I decided to check out a lot of the shallows and backs of creeks instead. If you do find some fish shallow they seem to be in small groups in a small areas and then miles of dead water.

Roberts is awful. It'll be awful until December. Don't go to Ray Roberts.

Catfishing has been great in 25-30' of water suspended on jighead minnows.

Roberts is where its at, don't go to Lewisville.
Lewisville is the worst lake in Texas

We can race to the bottom! I'll probably be at Lew Saturday as well trying to get -something- going.

Thanks for the props. Magical day for the kids for sure.

Gave it a go last weekend with all 6000 of the high school boats on the lake. Found some 61 degree water but I think it was only that warm from the 3000 motors idling to the back. Lmao! I counted 17 boats in the back of 1 creek. We caught 2 limits of fish but dang sure didn’t have anything close to 27, heck of a bag right there!

To put what the those kids did into perspective. I could be wrong but I have not found anything to the contrary. Their weight of 27.58 was the largest bag in Texas high school bass fishing history. I’ve found some 25 lb bags but nothing larger than that. Not a single fish was caught using FFS and they had their weight by 8:30 am. In the last two weeks I have seen water temperatures on RR from 48 to 71. This is the craziest spring I have ever experienced.
Not only was there over 200 HS boats out there but they also had a 118 boats kayak tournament also.

False. My Sanger kids weighed in 30.28 on Ray Roberts in 2019 and at that time it was the second largest stringer in THSBA history. I think there was a 36 pound sack weighed in on Palestine last year.
