How long do they usually stay in them. I caught a bunch this weekend full of eggs. I am wanting to take my girls this next weekend and I am hoping they are still there. Just curious. Thanks

They will be in the creek till about mid April

I walked about 2 miles along a creek all the way to the lake and never found one. Must have picked the wrong creek.

Some of them it’s on, some of them it’s still a little early. For the most part it’s just getting started. Wait until a good warm rain and go again. There are some places I fish where you can have two creeks on the same lake just a few miles apart where one will start in February and one won’t start until nearly April. Sandbass this time of year can be strange and when they first show up like this they aren’t particularly easy to catch, especially if you aren’t using the right gear and baits. And while you can *generally* rely on water temp, they’re a bit unpredictable. Usually they just show up when they want to. I’ve seen them show up in January with snow on the ground and I’ve seen them show up as late as the first of April. Usually though, it’s the first warm rain in march that really gets it started. After the next rain, go try again.
