Oh yeah I just remembered originally at Diablo East there was floating store where you could buy gas and supplies/snacks. It was taken out in the early 70’s if Inremember right . You could also launch off the bank at was is now called Governors Landing. The Air Force ramp was built in the 80’s I think so it may not be useable

I fish on the edge and stay out of the middle

Heard from a buddy that tried to launch at Diablo on Sunday that it was a mess. 25 boats deep single file waiting to put in on the one lane they have open. Going to be a mess for a while. Anyone launched a bass boat on the spur 454 road/ramp?

It was not one lane unless they don't know how to launch. Its was easily two lanes to launch. Crowded some. I launched at 0630 without any hastle.

Hasn't flattened out yet but haven't need to put the 4 wheel drive on yet.

Fishnfireman fishes it, probably driving back home today. I’m sure he’ll give the scoop.

JJ and Carr put on a clinic --- 50 lbs for 2 days is awesome for that lake in these times. Big congratulations for figuring out what I consider a totally different lake with the dropping water . Second place wt dropped down to 34 lbs. Some big girls were caught this week including a 9 I caught prefishing which caused me to stay deep but the fish moved up even with the falling water.

Diablo East is still wide enough to get 2 boats in IF no one parks their boat on the West side.
They are dropping the water level about 2 ft a week and will have to move the tire reef soon and also move the courtesy dock. It will get interesting.
Two sources I talked with said they will drop it to 70 feet low so they can start shoring up the porous bed rock that the dam is built on. IBWC says Amistad dam has a class two designation and is considered a high risk with "the likelihood of failure" according to studies.
Talk is it will take 3-5 years to complete barring any extreme upstream water events such as what a hurricane would dump.

Those two are excellent any time of year and not just on Amistad.
