Are there any good trophy bass lakes in the Stephenville area? For context, a trophy to me is anything 10lbs or more. How about any smaller waters (public ponds or small public lakes) that hold trophy bass near Stephenville?

I owned a business there for about 10 years. Lake granbury to east, squaw creek for winter, oh ivie a couple hours west, PK north. It's a decent little town. Lake proctor down the road also. I forgot whitney and Hubbard Creek.

If you can get access to some of the local ranches there, the ponds will surprise you.

That would be so cool for my boys. Can't beat some good ol pond fish'n. How willing are local ranchers to give permission? I know up here they're not very fond of it but the abundance of public waters make up for it.

Chances? Slim to slimmer. If you enjoy public land hunting, don’t move here. I’ve been seeing a lot of complaints on FB about the lack of public hunting in Texas. I can’t figure out why people keep moving here and complaining.

We have a small family ranch up here that we'll always be able to come back to to stay at and hunt the area when we want so not too worried about that.

Several rivers and lakes within a couple of hours of there. Grew up in Breckenridge fishing HC. I went to college at Tarleton and now live in Hico. Good town for a family and its growing. Shoot me a message if you have any questions. Happy to help.
