Haven’t seen a hydrowave thread in a while.
Do those still work?

Any visual evidence with hydrowave on vs off on live sonar?

I had one pre-FFS, wasn't a believer. Got rid of that boat and let it go with it. Added the FFS on the newer boat, did not add the hydrowave so I can't say anything on the visual impact. I can see fish run when I approach them - just the trolling motor sound runs em off, or slap chop off hull.

Never did. Caught a lot of fishermen though! If you’re in the market for a “game changer” I’ve got a Dr LORAN Hill’s(RIP) Color-C-Lector for sale! Sorry, that wasn’t very helpful…”right to remain silent, without the ability”!

Man. I had one too. I pretty much used a completely different color than it recommended and seemed to work! Wish I still had it in the box it came in.

Borrowed your title and posted in White Bass section as I am interested in their use on Whites.

In my experience, I have one and use it all the time. I will usually have shad or some type of bait fish schooling around in front of the boat when I have it on,if i come across a school. I have it attached to my trolling motor. My setting is active shad full volume. Does it help or hurt? I'd say it doesnt hurt. I have been in a boat up in Northern Wisconsin. We were bed fishing for smallies. A male and female were on the bed. Hydrowave was on. The male came off the bed twice and rammed the speaker that made an audbile thud in the boat. Craziest thing I've ever seen.

Thank you, that is interesting.

With live sonar, maybe a more directional hydrowave will be introduced that shoots the sound waves where the transducer is pointing.
Then, maybe someone will win a Classic giving credit to their "laser guided" hydrowave and live sonar.

I can’t believe these are still being sold for $600. I’d maybe give $29.95 for one.

It’s actually genius. Raise the price….that means it MUST be legit and worth more. They sell 1/2 of what they did when it was $199…the net is more profit with fewer units.

I've got one, bought it used for a nice deal - the non KVD model. I honestly can't say if it helps or not, tbh. I've considered removing it, as it seems like lately I never even turn it on. I think I will make concerted effort to use it this Spring and see what happens. Still, it's one of those things it's hard to tell if helping or not really.

I would love to test it out, and compare it with old school thumpers. Thumpers are poison on sandbass. Still haven't read a decent scientific explanation on why a thumper (banging on the hull of the boat) brings in sandbass, but it does. Sometimes it's will bring them is from all directions. Up until the fall of 2023, the three largest bass I have caught on Grapevine were caught while sandbass fishing with the (Bluetooth Redneck Thumper, or playing music very loud). The big fish get big for a reason, they live out in open water structures. Beat my PB by 1.5lbs and I was jamming with music loud enough to be heard across the lake at 5:50am. The old saying to be quiet is highly debatable IMO. I catch more fish playing music pretty loud on the boat, vs without music. Although, when I am listening to music I am in the zone, and the most relaxed. So, as I tell my Fishing Mentor "without music" he will not fish the same. Heard about the hydro wave many times, but never have seen it up close. Definitely something that could be reversed engineered with acoustics and some good components.

A buddy of mine had one, he called it the "Fish Spooker". He wanted it to work, but it did not. As far as shad approaching the boat, during the spawn they'll lay those sticky eggs on any floating object, I've had them around the boat spawning, eggs all over the transom and outboard after pullng the boat out. I don't have a hydrowave.

Smallmouth are attracted to sound, the divers will sit on the bottom, clack a couple of rocks together and the smallies will come over to see what is going on. 2 rocks are a lot cheaper than a Hydrowave.
