Credit cards are pretty much essential anymore as many places will not accept cash. For instance, my hospital accepts no cash. It is especially important when traveling and staying in hotels. The key is the way you manage them. Pay them off monthly. I have no CC that requires and annual fee. Too many free ones. Some of them with an annual fee are well worth it. Especially if you travel often. Miles, lounges, free bags etc. adds up. Of course you pay them off each month. The point the other guys are making is that inflation is so high, and the economy is not as hot as some think, wages keeping up with inflation is a joke for example. Maybe only on the very low end of pay. For example no one is working for less than $15 an hour now, but I just handed out 3% raises to even top ranked people and 2% for those who were solid, so of course people are racking up credit debt.

I use credit cards for everything. I get 5% cash back with them. Only place to get a cash price break is at some gas stations.
Not using credit cards is leaving cash on the table.

I use a debit card so the money comes out at time of purchase. I have never had a CC where I had to pay every month. Debit cards are more vulnerable. Credit gives you a buffer. Yep, get hit by a scammer with a DC and have fun trying to get your money back. Get hit by a scammer with a CC, report it and the charges are dropped instantly. I’d never use a DC tied directly to my bank account, that’s insane. Now, I have been noticing that more restaurants are starting to hit back with a 3% charge for using a CC. I pay cash at those places, I should start writing them business checks, just to pizz them off.

on credit card debt. While economy has been steaming, many in lower to middle income are supporting their spending habits with credit cards. The interest rates for most exceed 20%. Maybe desperation for some, but for many it is a lack of discipline all to often buying stuff they do not need. The only people using it to survive is the Republicans. All the Young Liberal's are still living in their parent's basement ( Possible even you ) and using their Credit card for useless material things, and also on Uber's and having Food delivered to them instead of being a productive human being. The LIBERAL'S ( Like yourself ) don't have a clue what responsibility is and probably never will in your life. BIDEN HAS DESTROYED THIS COUNTRY. YOU...........................ARE PART OF DESTROYING THIS COUNTRY. Maybe, you should just move south and be with your comrades... ............................................ .Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to HONOR our next PRESIDENT Of the UNITIED STATES OF AMERICA.............................
...........................................PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP Our 45 & 47th PRESIDENT So are the liberal grandparents and great grandparents using credit to survive? They live in the same exact economy as the republicans but have the extra burden of paying for all the liberal adult children living in their basement. How do they do it? They go to work every day.

We use our BOA Visa for every purchase we can, pay it off every month and book the cash rewards. Same here. My wife has mastered this.

My 5% cash back CC is set up to pay off the balance in full at the end of the month.
But always keep in mind, that a penny saved is a penny earned. An item is 100% off if you don’t buy it.

Credit card debt, mortgage delinquency, and car repossessions are through the roof, yet MSM and the White House Press Secretary tells us the economy is going great. Anybody that believes the economy is ok, is completely delusional. Do some research. 2025 is going to be rough regardless of who wins in November.

In my 52 years I have never even applied for a credit card. One thing I do know. My bank account has been steadily dropping since the pedo-potato has taken office. We have always lived below our means. Haven't changed our spending habits. 3 incomes, and still barely treading water because of that bafoons policies.

My wife and I had a farming operation for many years. Rented most of the land but bought one farm. Tough business. It was a diversified operation so as they say, "make it on the popcorn, lose it on the peanuts'. It was a good life and required lots of discipline, which she had more of than I did. Main issue was to cash flow every year. I found upon retiring that most of what you had earned was tied up in investments, such as equipment, that turned into income when sold. Those last years we farmed without buying equipment turned out to be the best we had. We had lots of debt, but always paid it off each year.

Can anybody explain to me why usury laws don't apply to credit cards?
