I live on Bob Sandlin. The spots are fun and tasty. If I were driving somewhere now it would be Welsh on a weekday.

Between lake Lewisville and Roberts in the Elm Fork of the Trinity there used to actually be some really good spotted bass.

Lake O The Pines has some good spots on the south end. You will weed through a bunch of 12 -14 in spots, but there are a few decent ones in there. My biggest spot I ever caught in Texas was on Ray Roberts. It was a little over 4lbs. caught it in about 20ft of water on one of the points by the dam. Second largest spot and biggest 5 spots I've ever caught in Texas was on Alan Henry. Alan Henry was actually stocked with Alabama Spots. At one time there were some decent spots in that lake. It has been years since I have fished it so not sure if they are still catching any larger spots there or not. Other Texas lakes I have caught decent spots on would be Palestine, Sam Rayburn and Toledo. Not sure if any of these lakes are in the area you would like to fish, but may be worth a trip on a pretty day.

I've caught them out of both Cypress Springs and Sandlin, they have a tendency to be on the smallish side but they fight way harder than LMB's of the equivalent size. They are usually in deeper water on these lakes, most of the ones I've caught were on a C-Rig fishing with a finesse worm or small grub in about 20 feet of water.
