Just needing info on Brazos river fishing . What part of brazos river are deep enough to access with small boat ? Where would you launch ? I would be talking about closet to PK lake . I don’t even have a boat but just thought it was such a neat looking place after watching videos of crappie fishing in winter .

interesting you ask this.. while travelling to lake limestone, I saw an area where the road crossed the river and there was a truck and boat trailer that was parked, evidently had launched a boat and was fishing. when I got home I looked at the spot on google earth and plan to go back and check it out. I didnt realize it at the time, but followed the river and it goes all the way to the gulf of mexico to the south, and almost to oklahoma to the north. I know certain parts of it hold crappie, and plan to do some exploring myself.
finding a place to go light, and do some bank fishing, or launch a small boat out of the back of the truck and a hand controlled trolling motor would be a nice change of pace.
I will likely go back to the spot I found, in falls county, and bring a castnet.. what I want to know is if there are any shad back there.. if theres no shad, or birds or it doesnt look like it has much life, the crappie will likely not be there. the brazos river has ALOT of bends in it, and if the bends are deep, thats a great thing,.
I plan to go check the area I found in the next few weeks, will let you know what I find.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !
