Got to the lake just b4 sunrise & was truck #4 in the parking lot. Was worried driving up there that the ramp may be iced over, but it was 36 degrees & no issue. The plan was to fish half day since the wind was predicted to be 15-20 after 11 am. Wanted to practice casting with left hand/shoulder & try out a technique Doc told me about where you still cast with the right side, but grab the butt of the rod with the left hand and sling it. Both worked pretty well & the right shoulder is much better since getting a Cortisone shot last week. So...fished for bass from 7 am until 10:30 & tried for sunfish from 10:30 til 11. Ended up with 11 bass & 0 sunfish...never even got a bite with the sunnies & fished a spot where TomRom & I caught a good number last year at this time.

The water temp was 58-59 degrees all day. I saw loads of baitfish exactly where they should be this time of year. We had bluebird skies & the wind did start to whitecap around 11 when I headed home. I did not catch any Bigs (over 5 lbs) but got a few nice ones any way. All fish caught on Yum Dingers with a 1/4 oz jig head. The batteries died in my scale, but I guess the biggest one to be just under 4 lbs. All released, so TomRom has something to look forward to catching on his next trip. yes Looking at the weather forecast the next few weeks it looks dreadful for fishing with lots of cold & wind. Stay safe...

As always a solid post and solid fish. Good job Steve. thumb

Side Note: I fished Fisher Park this Past Friday and again this past Tuesday for Rainbow Trout . Limited easily with plenty of throw backs. Had a very nice one that got off just as I was pulling it out of the water. bang

Great report Steve and an amazing catch considering conditions and the short amount of time you had to fish ! thumb

Glad the casting tip helped. It helped me back in the day when I needed it.

Thanks for the report thumb

Are you able to distinguish possible groups of sunfish on your electronics?

Thanks Chuck...I didn't hear anything back from you so I passed on the trout at Fisher. Glad you caught your limit.
Thanks Doc...It is a pretty easy way to cast without really using your shoulder much...Now I need a new way to set the hook !
Thanks Leo & Yesenia...Yes, they get fat this time of year...will be spawning in about 8 weeks.
Thanks Barry...anything below 60 is winter to me !
Thanks Jamie...No, I cannot...I can tell schools of bait fish & larger fish but that's about it...

Great report Steve; those bass are really thick.
It was just too windy for me to get out there this week. Maybe late next week.
