Hey everyone from Louisiana! My last few trips out to Lake Darbonne have been completely silly with over 300 fish coming into the boat over the last five trips (some of those trips were only a few hours!)

The video below was a day when I went out solo for just a few hours and caught 34! I've been having tons of luck swapping between tiny jigs or really big jigs with lots of action: 1.5 inch plastics where the tail is much smaller than the body or 2+ inch plastics with the thumper tails. In both instances the jigs that have been working have tails that are chartreuse and body a different color.

Thanks again to everyone on this forum for all of the information you all share. When I started crappie fishing I really believe the info I got from this place was the difference between success and failure on many tough bite days.

Merry Christmas and good luck out there everybody!!

Thanks so much, that means a lot!

My favorite rods for the past year or so are 8 ft trout rods but I can't recommend the brand because BOTH of them had tips snap off when I set the hook after only a month or so. I just snipped them down to the next eyelet and sanded them down and now they're perfect. Lately I have been gravitating towards shorter light action casting rods with more backbone to flip the big ones in. With the pontoon boat getting the net involved is a bit more hassle than when I had my bass boat.

Favorite line BY FAR is the fluro-mono blended kind. I think it's called fluorokote and I have replaced almost every crappie and bass fishing reel I have with the stuff.

For reels, you guys will laugh but my absolute favorite reel for crappie fishing is the Shimano FX2500. It retails for like $20 and I'm using one in the last part of this video that's about 6 years old that performs just as good as the newer ones. I like the sound of the drag and despite me never taking great care of them they just keep on working.

good for the soul for sure.. if that happens 4 times in your lifetime your blessed... thumb

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !
