Not trying to start some [censored] here. But Im in my 60s and have seen the fishing decline over the years, Im blessed to fish a lot. When I see a fish on the bed I never cast at It. Especially at Fork fisherman in a line will cast at a fish for 30 min as the next boat is waiting to do the same. And we ask why is the fishing declining ? Do they have ptsd and don't spawn ? I can catch fish that are not on the bed every day. Am I the only one..... Ken. I understand. When you can't catch a fish any other way. That's what you need to do.. moderator remove this post. F off ez Your 1st statement was “not trying to start some [censored] here…. Kinda has the appearance of “starting some [censored]” though?

I think lake conditions (habitat, water levels, water quality) have a much greater impact on fish reproduction. In some situations maybe stocking.

I disagree with bed fishing as well. It’s an opinion. I know. Some (most), don’t care about mine. I think it’s the one time a fish should actually be left alone. I’m in the minority. I won’t do it intentionally. I know that fishing during spawning months, I WILL catch a few off beds…it happens. But, I hardly ever target a bed and sit there agitating the fish to bite. It feels unsportsmanlike.
Don’t nail my [censored] to the cross. I know I’m in the minority.

I do it when I have to for customers if they can't catch them feeding somewhere and it is a great way to learn what turns a fish on. IMO
Plus catch a fish of a lifetime.
I fish a jig year round and my presentation I use is what I seen a bed fish like the most. So 2-20 ft same presentation and it works.
Bed fish especially the males get pounded. Kind of like the bucks rutting and chasing does.
Had a guy one time say he did not care to sight fish but bragged about shooting a buck while on the back of a doe : (
To each do his own thing I guess.
Lots of things hurt fish populations and I am not sure bed fishing does cause a lot will do it at night.
One other thing that hurts population that I learned this year from listening to a Biologist from Alabama.
He said 35 % of all adult bass die in all southern lakes every year. I was blown away by that statement, and called our local Biologist to see if he agreed and he said yes and it could be even higher %.
So stocking fingerlings and waiting on them to reach breeding size while 35 % adults die every year. Well that has to hurt the overall population.

Today the population is 7+ million. 2 new lakes have opened in N. Texas and one is mudhole Cooper. Pressure is the #1 thing that has changed the fishing in the N. Texas area. If you are fishing 8 feet or shallower in the Spring, you are likely catching fish off of beds.

Apparently your opening statement is not true at all.

You guys should stop bickering.
It’s all opinion. Some bed fish. Some don’t but don’t care if others do. Some don’t and care if others do.
Everyone should donate all their money for more stocking. Stock more fish in the lakes. Win Win win.

Come live where I live. Nobody wants the bass in the lakes. Plenty of them to go around.
