As a beginner wanna be Crappie fisherman (A Rookie) I have a bit of dilemma, I need input on where I should place a Garmin 126sv on my small pontoon. I do know that I want to place my Livescope LVS34 on a separate pole mount on the corner next to the R/H seat. The other Garmin 126sv will be placed on the center console. Take a look at the pictures and tell me what you think. Any input would be appreciated. Also, I do plan on fishing front (bow).
I have a pontoon, I have a garmin for livescope double stacked with a beatdown flex with a hummingbird (To go to and mark waypoints) up front with the transducer pole right next to me, and a hummingbird at the helm to navigate. I use 10' and 13' poles. I have used a guide on Fork named Jerry Handcock, I would recommend using a guide a few times to get the hang of it. Shutup and fish in Lewisville is great at installing these. Also be sure you have spot lock on your trolling motor.
I have a Lowrance 12 Live, Lowrance Xi5 mounted up front and my home made pole mount just next to where I sit. I like it. 21ft pontoon and I removed the two side doors and moved the front couches back. Gave me plenty of room to mount these two chairs up front.
I would try to find brackets to mount your 126 to the rail in front of your right front seat and depending on the transducer, I would mount it to the trolling motor. Worst case scenario, you could mount the 126 to the drink holder table with bolts that go all the way through to keep it secure . JMO
My first fix would be to move the two fishing chairs up front. The deck space in front of those chairs and the railing will make fishing a little more difficult. Separate floor mount for the chair should work. The first 6 ft of your crappie rod is in the boat. Operating the sonar mount will be much easier if you're sitting closer to the pole. You can have a shorter handle which will make swinging the pole easier. Mounting the pole beside the RH chair has you dealing with the railing all the time. That would be very frustrating to me. You'll have to retract the pole when you move and reaching over the rail or walking to the front to retract it will be a little awkward.
