where are places you have visited you would consider moving after retirement. Good Healthcare, smaller population. med. income.

I like it around Chattanooga, Tn and although in the city itself wouldn't work but that is your healthcare go-to. So 30-45 minutes outside of Chattanooga which is somewhere in southern Tenn. or the northwestern corner of Ga. or north Alabama. I like the North Alabama area. Beautiful area, lots of game, reasonable COL, and I think Tenn has no state income tax but not sure of the other 2 states but I think they don't either. within 1 hour of Chattanooga is Watts Barr, Weiss Lake and the Coosa River, Chickamauga (almost in the city Limits), and Lake Guntersville (outside of Fort Payne, Ala.). Fort Payne is a nice small city. I'd go there.

In between Rayburn and Toledo Bend. Medical is a consideration as Lufkin is OK but you don't have the best of the best docs. No place rural will have that. Great fishing, beautiful forests with rolling terrain, cheap land and reasonable property taxes. 2 National Forests.

Lastly, the mid-Texas coast and fish the inshore fish species and become a beach bum. Hurricanes are the caveat. Must build to withstand the storms and it can be done.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

I like the bubble where we live. Right around here. We avoid heavy traffic times but out here the pace is much different.
Small town atmosphere- not far from the luxuries of the city, restaurants, music shows, movies, museums, international air travel, good healthcare and living in an area so quiet that the owls wake me at night.
It’s here. Just look around.

Other than the distance to quality healthcare ; Alpine or Ft Davis is where I would look , it’s just plain beautiful out that way and the major plus is a lack of crowds, hell, there’s a lack of people .

Here's another vote for northern Alabama, especially Guntersville. We have friends who lived on Lake Guntersville for several years and we stayed with them once for 4-5 days. It is a beautiful area, and that lake is great. Not only is it beautiful, I think you could throw a lure in any square foot of water and catch a bass. We fished it every day for a few hours and I don't know how many fish we caught, most in the 3-5 lb. range.

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming do not levy state income taxes, while New Hampshire doesn’t tax earned wages.

I like where I am at right now. I've traveled all over and could live anywhere I want. But nothing seems to be able to top this area as of now.

Well the first thing you know ol Jed's a millionaire,
The kinfolk said "Jed move away from there"
Said "Californy is the place you ought to be"
So they loaded up the truck and they moved to Beverly
