Can he paint? My uncle that served in Vietnam liked to make crafts. He made a really cool set of dominos during one of his stints in rehab...pretty sure with the VA. I still have it. He also made the case for it. Before he died, he did like to do puzzles, too. But like your dad, his hearing and eyesight were failing. His eyes were better than his ears, though.

I was blessed my parents lived into their 90’s Only thing they ever asked was to come see them Could not keep dad off a tractor because he loved it, so stop worrying about it Spend as much as you can Maybe take him to the game next Friday He can’t see or hear very good anymore, but he would love to drive a tractor. He was raised pulling bolls by hand and skipped the tractor generation. I just don’t know where he would drive it. He didn’t have indoor water or electricity until he went to the navy. Not many had indoor plumbing 90 years ago If he enjoys yard work, help him get a few projects going in the yard I’m a young and almost 60 and my best days are when I have a quality minute with the sorry for y’all’s loss.

Do y'all have an animal shelter or rescue nearby? Maybe he could volunteer to walk the dogs? It would give him some companionship without the responsibility of ownership.

Take him some items that need fixing. Most older guys like that stuff. I have been trying to find something like an old lamp or something. He can Fox anything. I learned a lot from him like that. Go to Goodwill or a thrift shop and buy a taster and a lamp if they work, maybe you can break it and then ask him to fix it.

Where does he live?
Some cities and towns have a community center where older people gather and just chill together. I’ve been in a lot of them over the years.
DeSoto, Mineral Wells, and Red Oak all have awesome one where the older folks of that area utilize them well. They even have transportation to get the citizens there.

Hi Mud. We had my fil live with us his last 6 years. I got him into tying crappie jigs and he loved it. I have everything you need to get him started if you think it might get his interest. Show him some of the jig tying work up in the crappie section.
If he is interested I’ll send you everything to get him started, vices bobbins, thread, feathers, hackle…everything. Let me know PM address and I’ll send it.
Jeff
Keep looking forward. That’s why windshields are larger than rear view mirrors.

Jeff Thank you good sir! I’m headed over there now and will ask him if this is something he would do. He loves to fish. I’m not certain if his eyes would allow him to do this, but I will certainly ask.

If he's got a spot for it...How about a couple of bird feeders and bird bath along with1 of the the Audubon field guide books for North America. If you build it they will come as long as there is H2O in the bath. We fixed my Mom up a couple years ago out in Granbury and she loves tending to it in the mornings and keeping it fresh. She gets very excited when a new species is spotted , as do I. Then next spring hook him up with about 3 Hummingbird feeders and show him how to make the sugar water..now that's entertainment! Also, it's nice to have them located where you can watch from inside as well. You're a good son!
