I don't care what rod you get you are going to backlash by shipping ! Rod length has more to do with how successful you are with it but more than that it is the set up to where your are skipping too. I have found that the set up means more than anything to me . I for one like the boat either pointing straight at my target or straight away from it. Away from it is best for me as it gives you about the right distance from target .Just my opinion . Make no mistake your going to be replacing line more often . Just the price you pay !

The reel you choose for skipping has way more to do with anti back lashing than the rod.
