 Breakaway Tongue Question

Hey guys. Bought a new pontoon and dealer installed a breakaway tongue so the boat would fit in my garage. Should it be level? They are telling me it's fine but i've never seen one that wasn't level. I’m sure with all that weight, it’ll be “breaking away”, before too many years. yeah, not a good idea at all. too much leverage on that hinge and it is just bolted on (bolted can move, welded can't). what is your tongue weight?

Normally it’s called a folding tongue but in your case breakaway sounds appropriate

imo, that should have been installed like this, at the tongue start. ![[Linked Image]](https://heritagetrailers.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/swing_away1.jpg) yours looks like it already has play in it, put a jack under the steps and jack the tongue up, does it go to level or does it pick up as is? leave hooked to truck for this.

Looks a little long to me but might just be the picture. Just don't step on it if you are 250+.

Issue appears to be some type of "lengthening" was done, normally a breakaway/swing shortens the trailer. If the tongue was shorten, it would properly aligned...too long.
