Wow. Wonder why canyon seems to be the only lake in Texas capable of producing striper that size?
That far south as well

Good question , maybe low stocking numbers and Canyon is deeper than most lakes with a max depth of 145’. Seems like when zebras took over the lake white bass are nonexsistent , so we’re forced to fish for stripers instead of targeting whites and getting a few stripers mixed in. Fish nothing but big baits now. Not a lot of fish but more big fish for sure.

Those are some awesome looking fish.

Is the temperature of Canyon Lake very cool since it is fed by the Guadalupe? Stripers really prefer much cooler temps than typical Texas lakes in the summer, which might explain why they are thriving there.

We’ll tpwd stocks rainbow trout in the Guadalupe river below Canyon so I’m sure water temp is cooler than most Texas lakes
