Planning a trip to Grand Lake Oklahoma in October. First trip ever to this lake and staying on Monkey Island. Any help would be greatly appreciated on what direction to go or baits to try that time of year. Not looking for anyone's honey holes or special spots just looking for direction.

Typicall fall pattern. Lots of good creeks on both sides of monkey island to fish if the shad have moved in. Honey creek is a big creek slightly northeast of the tip of the island, Woodard is just southeast of the tip, and horse creek is on the southwest side of the island. Those are all bigger creeks that hold a lot of fish year round and very close to the island. You can put your boat in a the ramps at Tera Miranda, Shangri La, or a public ramp on the south side of the island close to Shangri La. Good luck!

Duck creek and Drowning creek are two other good creeks to fish if you go back toward the dam. Jerkbaits on secondary points and early morning buzzbaits on the numerous docks anywhere you fish in October. I love that lake. GL!
