I am heading up to Arkansas Saturday on a last min trip with my dad. We are planning to fish DeGray for hybrids on Sunday then roll up to Ouachita to fish Monday. Going blind but hopeful we can find some fish! Any general tips anyone would be willing to share for this time of year up there. I have never fished Arkansas but excited to go!

Well we had a blast fishing lake Ouachita for two days. I've always wanted to run up and fish for big striper and the lake did not disappoint. We got a tip for fishing down by the dam with live bait that produced a few good fish, but the second day we went in search on our own. I hit tons of structure mid lake and scanned for an hour or so before finally finding the marks I was looking for. It was a big fish spanking on flutter spoons after that! What a beautiful lake a great fishery. Lots of folks were fishing deep over flooded timber with live bait or trolled umbrella rigs, but we were not set up for that. I like those aggressive structure oriented fish anyways! big fish was 36" and fell victim to a home made flutter spoon while fishing the graph shot with a bait ball. Dad hung another just as big out of that school but broke off.

Some of the most beautiful scenery and clearest water around...plus fantastic fishing on Ouachita. Love that lake.

It was beautiful. I will be back for sure.

Thanks all. It was a great trip with my dad. Now on to POC in August! Going after big tarpon again. Will be hard to top last years 86" beast!
