I've been using Power Pro for a long long time with no issues, In the last year, I have had two spools that discolor very quickly (fade), and I have had a couple breakage issues which I never had before. This is with standard 50lb that I use for frogs, top water and flipping. Thinking of trying another brand. What do you use and why do you like/dislike it?

Reaction Tackle. Look on Amazon for it. I've had excellent results from the product and customer service.

Last braid bought recent is, 'Cat Pro' (50#).

However, I'm buying braid that's Hi-Viz. Green and Yellow. Fade isn't a problem for me.

Be sure to check the guides on the rod.

I switched to Daiwa J braid 8 several years ago after a bad spool of Power Pro. I throw a frog on 40lb and I love it. I run a mono backing in the spool. I only put enough braid on for the longest cast I can make plus about 30 yards. The rest is mono on the spool. It helps it not dig in when I set the hook, or at least it seams like it helps. I also use a sharpie on the line as it fades at the frog end. I’ll color 10’ or so. I haven’t had any issues so far.

I've started using the Sun Line XPlasma. I've been happy with it.

I really like the Berkley X5 braid.. Really casts well, I've had no issues with it in a couple of years.

Another fan of Diawa J-Braid Grand 8 strand. Smooth, less fraying, low fading, tough as nails.
