I grew up bass fishing the Sabine/neches/Taylor's bayou. I enjoy it. They are there at the worst time. Spring you can catch 16-18lbs. It's better than the red river that's for sure. Not having access to Louisiana lowers the weights and groups up the guys as well.

Why aren’t they letting them fish Louisiana water ?

A lot of "gray area" on private/public water. The last several times BASS has been to the Sabine, they could only fish the Texas side.

How do you have a 5 bass limit that only weighs 4lbs 9 ozs? These are supposed to be 14 inch minimum fish right? Good luck to those that figure it out.

Man you Bayou boys are sure sure sensitive about your swamp down there. First thing we need to do is work on our reading skills. I said it is the worst BASS fishery in the State. I stand by that 100%. If you count the Red River as a Texas fishery then maybe we have something to debate. I don't define how good a fishery is by the number of targets available to cast at. I define it by the actual quality of fish available to catch. Secondly, I love fishing Sabine Pass and Sabine lake all the way up into the river. One of the best Redfish, trout, and, flounder fisheries in the State. Low traffic compared to other areas on the coast. I kept an RV down there full time for years. Will again when I get more time. Like I said. Great place for a redfish tournament. Last place I'm gonna go to catch a bass. But hey, if you enjoy watching 10"-12" fish flying towards the heavens on every hook set then hunker down with some popcorn because you are about to get a dose of it. . [/quote]

TX Tree Grower,
You define a good fishery by the actual quality of fish available to catch. But many define a good fishery on "fun" factors like catching 25-30 bass, 50 bream, redfish, and flounder, etc. Very healthy fishery that is fun for the family.

How do they get from the river in Orange to Clearlake. I live in League City but I ain’t no saltwater guy. Isn’t there like a ditch that runs from Beaumont. I doubt they are allowed to run the inter-coastal.

Thanks, Billy

If I posted this before I claim old age. We cut through Webster/Clearlake on the way to our place at Rayburn. One creek or little bridge we drive over you can see what I think is Taylor Lake, It looks fishable. I bet that where these guys are fishing. Either there on the docks on Clear Creek which is one dang big creek.

Thanks, Billy

There are 2 small canals just west of 45 on south bank of clear creek between Webster and League City that have produced a bunch of fish over the years for anglers willing to make that run from Orange and cross Galveston Bay. The last time they were there Brock Mosley had a high finish and Mike McClelland has come very close a few years back, but no one has ever won from that area. I think Caleb Sumrall made that run in his Express yesterday and only had 5 lbs and Scott Martin has made the run yesterday and today.

Everything on your bass boat is broken......You just don't know it yet.
