If going for Large Mouth Bass what type of fly would be a good choice?

Any kind of popper is always fun. Many choices: hair body, foam body, plastic body.

Popper is my go-to. If that's not working, a meat whistle is next in line. One of those two usually gets it done.

Thanks guys, do they need to be in the 2-3" range in size?

That depends on where you are fishing and the time of year. Try to match the size of what they usually eat in that location. For Texoma, I tend to fish either a size 2 or 1/0 Clouser.

Also, a size 8 olive Wooly Bugger is another popular bass fly. Other colors work too.

Poppers or olive/black wooly bugger do well.

I’m guilty of tossing a squirmy wormy from time to time, sometimes the bass want them more than the panfish.

Thanks FDF

I have followed Alvin Dedeaux off and on for the last several years so I went back you his videos and he has a easy popper and clouser I will give a try.

You are welcome. I like them because they make some vibration and the fish can pick on it. Favorite is chartreuse.

I spend most of my fly fishing time chasing after big bass throwing big poppers, hairbugs and zonker type deceivers.

I tie lots of big bulky flys and can usually get the bigger bass to attack the fly especially before and during the spawn.

Things get much tougher post spawn and for the last two week I can't buy a good hit!
