I went out to the lake this morning. I didn't arrive until about 7:30. The people with their 8 poles are already starting to line the banks. Nobody had more than a fish or two on the stringer. Those had come earlier when there was some shad spawning on the shore. I walked the banks and found dead shad in quite a few locations. Hopefully I can get out early morning in the next couple of days and see how it develops.

I was up at the Birch creek unit of the State Park Saturday April 1st and got a good report of the bank fishers catching whitebass all along the shoreline early in the morning.
I also saw the shad working the shore as well. With the lake below pool level there is plenty of open shoreline to setup a few lines..
With the rain expected in the forecast we might be in for a late whitebass run up the creeks like there was in 2009. I sure hope so!

I went out to the dam and fished the main lake from 6:45 to 7:45 AM this morning. There was some shad around but no real spawning on the bank this morning while I was there. I only caught 2 white bass and a bluegill. The winds are going to pick up and the pressure will be extremely low tomorrow. The weather man is predicting the overnight temperatures to drop back into the 50's and 3 inches of rain this week. The lake is still 2.5 feet low but that should push it to full level if we get the rain expected.

Thanks for the reports J-Moe! At least where I go there won't be 19 rods lining the bank...just the occasional a**hole in a boat that drives across the lake and parks it on the bank 10 feet from where your bank fishing.

I'm not sure about a late run but there's a good chance the shad will move up into the creeks and the white bass, hybrids and everything else will follow!!!

KBTX is reporting a record amount of rainfall here in BCS.. so I suspect and hope the Yegua and Lake Somerville will jump up to near normal level over the next week..

Is he an older dude? One time I went overboard on a kayak. And all he do was just seating there watch not even go out and help. And you get to that place his then him. He give you the dog look

Lake came up half a foot in less than 24 hours. Was sitting at 235.5 now over 236. Only 2ft low.
If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.

Interesting, TPWD stocked some Lone Star bass in Somerville last year. I wonder how much this will help the largemouth fishing.
Species Year Number Stocked Size Bass, Sunshine 2022 116,086 Fingerling Bass, Lone Star 2022 68,117 Fingerling

I fished the main lake on Tuesday morning, the whites I caught had plenty of eggs left in them. It did not appear that the eggs were starting to be re-absorbed(red and shrinking) The males still showed plenty milt, so maybe they will charge upstream and get a bit of a late spawn in this year, hope so As of now, 9:00 pm lakes at 236.41,
