Anyone catching them shallow yet? I tried Texoma last week on the 1st and didn't get a bite shallow, only found them 12-14' deep. Just curious if you guys have noticed them moving up in the N Texas lakes.

I'm headed to Eagle Mountain on Sunday, I'll see if they are shallow.

Spawn is about over my friend I think ! I was catching mostly all males early March! If you will go look at my spawn thread. I’m catching all females now and some that has spawned out !! If I was to guess we may have a good 2 weeks left as this year has been really crazy with the late cold fronts. If it were me I’d be hammering them hard after this front this weekend !! It’s hammer time !!!

The spawn isn’t over here on Ray Roberts or Texoma, it’s just getting started. IMO.

I think more fish spawned in early March than most realize. I’m catching post spawn fish on Joe pool on brush already.

Me too !! Spawn is wrapping up !! It was that one week first of March I believe where it got real hot 60 plus at night 80 plus in the days that kicked them off good !! I’m still catching some with eggs as I think there’s a good 2 weeks left of the shallow bite !! But yes it’s wrapping up soon !!

We just had a lot of fresh rain a lot and another cold front !!! Don’t give up on your dock fishing that’s for sure !! I wouid try it again mid week into next weekend !!!

Last ramp on Dido Rd. Launch, fish the stick ups and boat docks on the road side back up lake. Still presentation. One crazy owner that will berate you for fishing her dock. I told her Hang a basket and I'll return your fish

The spawn isn’t ending, not in north texas, most places they’ve just started to move up well. texoma in particular doesn’t usually crank up until now and it will go well in to may.

I agree with the OP, I caught some in early March but currently I am still catching them with eggs and have not seen a lot of shallow water activity. Also the sand bass are still in pretty shallow water, I haven't seen the Bass action I usually do by this time either. As a matter of fact I have seen barely any frogs or small minnows in the shallows though just starting to. To add we have had many cloudy days that were cool in the morning. I expect on the lakes I fish the spawn will begin in earnest pretty soon.
